Website for the Russian Christmas Festival
Russian Christmas is an international festival dedicated to the pre-revolutionary traditions of the holiday. It has been taking place in Shuya, Ivanovo region, since 2020. For a few days, the old town turns into the capital of Christmas with light and music installations, street performances, thematic exhibitions, concerts, traditional treats and handmade souvenirs.
Event’s organizer, Tourism Development Center of Ivanovo region, asked us to update the website: to make a handy guide for festival guests and encyclopedia of Russian Christmas.

So that users can easily plan a trip to the festival, we added all the tourist information to the website: how to get to Shuya, where to stay and eat, and what to see there.

Highlight the main points
One of the main adventures of the festival is the journey on the retro train. Every year guests wait for the ticket sales opening with anticipation. Previously, the information about the train was lost among other festival events. On the new website, we dedicated a separate page, where we gathered all information that would help users make a decision about the trip: the tour program, schedule, links to the tickets, requirements for boarding documents, photos of cars.

Revitalize the festival site
We transferred the entire infrastructure into interactive maps, so that guests could plan their route in advance and easily navigate.
We marked festival locations, restrooms, cafes and restaurants, parking lots and free bus stops. All spots are clickable: you can see the address, opening hours or information about the event.
The maps can be downloaded as a file or uploaded to Yandex. maps on your phone.

Think even about the rare guests
The Russian Christmas festival is known not only in Russia, but also in other countries: photos of previous festivals were published by CNN and The Guardian. This is the only Russian event of this scale dedicated to Christmas, so it may be of interest to foreigners.

To make it intriguing for the user to move from page to page, gradually immersing himself in the holiday atmosphere and learning the meanings of Christmas, we presented some of the information in an interactive format. Such solutions increase user engagement.

Add kindness
Christmas is considered to be a family holiday, which you should spend with your loved ones or at least give them a piece of warmth on this day. This means that the website should convey an atmosphere of love and kindness. So we created a service for sending online Christmas cards.
The visitor chooses a postcard design among the drawings of artists from Palekh and Orenburg.
The Tilda platform, where the site is built, does not have a suitable solution for this task, so we programmed the service from scratch.
Writes a greeting, selects the background.
Sends a postcard to the recipient by e-mail or messenger.
According to the warm feedback on social media, many people liked this decision. During the holidays, 3,000 postcards were sent from the website!

How to help your client
The festival is a vibrant project: the program, transport routes, and locations can change. The website, as a guidebook for Russian Christmas, should promptly provide users with up-to-date information.
It is important that the organizers did not depend on the developers and could make even non-standard changes themselves at any time. The Tilda platform, where we built the website, became the best decision for this task.

We described all the information parts, headers and design elements that are used on the pages on the stylesheet. Now customers can use it as a template and change the necessary elements without help of layout designers.
