“Letter to Your Future Self” website
This job turned out to be a time machine! We launched a landing page which allows you to write a letter to your future self.
IDEA
The service was created after a campaign called "Letter into the future", which had been taking place in Smolensk. The participants were supposed to write letters and give them to the event organisers who in turn would give them back on the appointed day. The event was sadly canceled due to the pandemic, but it gave our client the idea to transfer "Letter into the future" to the online space, so he reached out to us to create the landing page.
TARGET AUDIENCE
First, we consulted the client and found out who took part in the offline campaign. Then we made portraits of typical representatives of the website’s target audience (their socio-demographic characteristics, pain points and needs) in order to understand one’s motivation to use the service.
Young people aged 16−25. They have just finished school or college and are about to determine their life’s pathway. They want to set goals for the future.

City dwellers aged 30−50. Mindful, reflective audience with an active life position, the creative class. They are people that possess a need to draw conclusions about themselves, their countries, the things they have achieved, as well as the things they missed out on.

People with a rich life experience (over 50 years old). They reminisce a lot and want to pass their own experience on to the next generation.
The main content of the landing page consists of the letters that the authors have allowed to be published and reviews about the service collected by the client. We proofread them but did not edit them in order to preserve the author’s style. The organisers plan to publish the most vivid letters in the form of a printed collection. We also translated the content and created an English version of the landing page.

The idea is, the service should help people think about life and set goals for the future. Therefore, before the author completes the letter form, a block with questions will guide them: what is important to a person now, what do they hope to achieve, what do they want to talk about with themselves through the years?
The design was performed in an abstract style to give the user space for imagination: we combined geometry, collage techniques and animation. Two main colors — beige and blue — create an atmosphere of calmness and lightness without overloading the page.

The client wanted to step away from the stereotypical images associated with letters and mail: paper, pen, ink. For illustrations, we used profiles of people surrounded by moving geometric shapes and abstract compositions.

You can write a message to yourself and select a date for receipt. When the time comes, the letter will be sent to your email. The maximum waiting period is 5 years.

The main difficulty was the delayed receipt of letters. To make this possible, we developed a code that enables sending on set dates. The dates are automatically entered into the database along with all user requests.

For half a year, the website’s users have sent 1849 letters, 274 of which have already returned to their authors. The future has arrived!
